Trouble in the far corner

There's been a falling out in the laundry cupboard. Dryer is sulking from a distance, while Washer crouches alone and exposed. This all because our downstairs neighbour, after an absence of several months, came home to a washing machine (top loader) full of water, and a knackered ceiling.

Investigations ensued only to find that our washing machine tap pipe wasn't quite screwed in properly, causing a slight leak. But after several months those drips added up!

We had no idea as there's all of 3cm ease down each side of the appliances, being chonky European boiz, and to get this far, MrC had to take the doors off the cupboard to get the dryer out, to be able to see the tap. Plumber has been and sorted it.

Thank goodness all that is under our laundry cupboard is another laundry cupboard...

Sadly we can't quite face putting it all back together again so the place is a mess. Hey ho...

  1. I had a washing machine which did not have an off setting (it broke) to the cold water feed. That was a deluge, but it was situated on the ground floor.

    1. Thank goodness! It's a never ending issue with our building, which is an old factory with wide wooden plank floors so water goes straight on through. Luckily our floor is far too staunch to succumb to the water, but Steve's ceiling, not so much!

  2. Dear Mrs. C.,
Well, that was an unpleasant discovery, wasn't it? After all that it's no wonder you want a break from those machines.

An old friend had hers put in a shallowish pan to deal with possible overflows.

Wishing you a more peaceful weekend,

    Natalie

    1. The pan is a good idea! But I found out this morning that the excess is $1500 for water related issues and now I'm a bit cross at my neighbour for being away for so long, which meant that the damage was big, not early intervention, dang it. and no gib board (dry wall) to be had so goodness knows how it will get repaired.
