Eat and Wear Cake!

I'm a lucky member of a group of Wellington based sewing bloggers, and oh my those girls know how to party! So, when faced with the prospect of eating your favourite patterns, the challenge was too great to turn down.
On 28 July, after some serious social sewing, we are getting together to eat Cake in our Cake Pattern makes.
In the unlikely event you've not yet heard about Cake, here's a link!
I LOVE making, and eating, pavlovas, and so it tickled me no end that my favourite pattern is Pavlova.
I love wrapover tops, and it's been so cold lately, a new wrap cardi really appeals. So, come 28 July, when we sit down to eat and wear our cake, I'll be rockin' my Pavlova. That's the theory!!

The challenge:

So, our challenge to the sewing blogosphere is to join us in Sewing Cake, then Eating Cake! You can eat Pavlova, Tiramisu or Hummingbird Cake, or you can wear one of them and eat any kind of cake you like! Plus there's some great riffs. I know there's a Red Velvet pattern coming out soo, probably not in time for this event, but maybe we could eat red velvet cake in anticipation?

On a different note, I haven't forgotten my Fitting series. I just taught a three week course on it and it as great! I'm just flat out - but I will get back to it. Thank you for sticking with me in the face of my attention deficit!

  2. Looking forward to seeing your cake. I have been tempted by the Tiramasu but haven't taken the plunge. Enjoy sewing (and eating)

  4. I'm in! I'll give the Tiramisu a try, I have wanted to for ages, but your idea of eating the cake too is just too delicious and idea to pass up.

  5. OK, so is this an online event as well? Can I sew up my Tiramisu and... photograph myself in it eating a cake (not necessarily tiramisu)? Is that the theory? Sounds good. :-)

  6. Good evening Mrs C,

I, for one, still thought cake was something you usually make using a mixer and an oven, so thanks for the link. That does look interesting.

I've decided I'm going to make cool aprons for little girls, but I have to tidy may way to Arthur first.... Today I made a start. A small start, but still.

    1. Yay for Operation Liberate Arthur!!! He would be SO useful to you! If I can coem help, let me know. Cleaning up other people's spaces is so much more fun than doing one's own!

  7. Dear Mrs. C.,

That's one fun challenge. I like Cake patterns...although haven't sewn any modern clothing for an age.

Looking forward to seeing the results.

    Please don't eat the fabric,

    Natalie

    1. That would be alarming! heheh. Although being wool cashmere, it would be full of...protein? Ew. Funnily enough, my lovely friend Madame Ornata popped over from the same sale to show me her purchases, and she had apiece of the same lovely fabric. Such great taste!
