Vintage pattern giveaway for Sew Grateful week

I collect stuff to do with sewing, that I don't always get to use. Included in this is a stash of delightful vintage patterns. Sew Grateful week has got me thinking about how much better it is for patterns to be out there being used and enjoyed, not stuck in a crate in my sewing room never to be made up.

So, win the giveaway and these are yours. From top left in clockwise direction:
Maudella 1376, girl's pattern size 11-12 years. Still in cellophane. It looks like it would size up for a smaller person without too much trouble and it is super 60's cute!
Weigels 2702 - size 32 bust. Princess seamed dress with button through front. Super useful and versatile.
Maudella 5143 bust 38. Maternity smock and skirt. I really like the styling of the middle view, I reckon it would look good on anyone, expecting or not.
Maudella 5328 bust 38 wedding dress, probably late 60's. The instruction sheet is missing but it is a fairly self explanatory pattern and there is plenty of information online I am sure about doing lace overlays if you wanted to go with that look. (I found this pattern listed on ebay for 18 euros!) Funnily enough I think it is the only example I've ever seen of a vintage pattern where the cover art isn't as flattering as the dress would be on a real person!
Simplicity 5546 - size 14 (bust 34) Full skirted dress with detachable collar. A great early 60's pattern
So there you go - something for every age and stage!
How to enter -
  1. Become a follower if you aren't already.
  2. Leave a comment saying which one you like best, how you would make one up, any further information about Maudella or Weigels - anything you like really. :)
  3. Let me know how to get hold of you if your email isn't on your profile.

And that's it! I'm happy to send them anywhere in the world. I am sew happy to think that they may actually get used and made into things by a vintage loving sewist out there!

Update: Forgot to say that I'll leave this open until midnight 12 Feb GMT. :)

  1. My fave is the Simplicity with the full skirt, but it's a hard choice. I enjoy that wedding gown quite a lot too, and the green 60s sheath dress in the upper left.

  2. Wow Lauren that was quick! :) They'd all look cute on you, too!

  3. They are all lovely but the pattern I like the most is the simplicity one. I have some fabric that would be perfect but it may not be enough, that is a pretty big full skirt. It is gray and has other colours at the border so perhaps I could combine two different fabrics somehow? MadameO

  7. All of the patterns look quite lovely but I'm in love with the Simplicity pattern. Perfect for all kinds of fabrics: solids or patterned. And the princess seamed Weigel seems also really nice.

  8. What a great giveaway! I just love looking at vintage patterns, so even if you weren't giving any of these away, I'd still love this post.

If I had to pick one as my favorite, I'd have to go with Simplicity 5546. I'm really drawn to the full skirted dress with detachable collar combo.

Thanks for hosting the giveaway :)

  12. I'm kind intrigued by the wedding dress. I feel like a modified version of this dress is very "en vogue" on the wedding circuit right now!

  13. Fantastic giveaway, I treasure all my vintage patterns too much to part with them so well done! I think my favourite might be the top middle pattern (in all variations!) I'd probably make up a few in diffeent colours for summer, though the full skirt and the bow on the collar of the pattern below have caught my eye too...

  15. I instantly started dreaming about making the simplicity dress in a novelty vintage print, but seeing as I just found out that I'm expecting, I think the smock would get a few makes!

  30. Thank you so much for the giveaway. I'm really liking Simplicity 5546 which would fit perfectly and the Maudella 1376. Yes, I would have to size it up (as you suggest) although it does look like a fun pattern and in a very cute style. I think it would look good in a navy fabric with white trim for a nautical feel. Or in a lovely brocade fabric for something more elegant. I do like vintage patterns as they often have such beautiful details.

  31. Simplicity 5546=too cute! I really like the patterned fabric on the cover, something black and white maybe? Keep it classic!

  35. Gorgeous patterns! I'd make most of them, but first up would be that Simplicity dress. That collar is just too cute to resist! I'd probably make it up in something similar to the pattern cover, actually - black and white gingham with red trim.

  36. What a wonderful giveaway! Thank you! I'm going to stick with a pattern that's in my size & doesn't require any adjusting so would like to be entered for Simplicity 5546 - it is so cute. I am a sucker for red & blue florals, but I agree with Macska, it would look great in a plaid or gingham .....

  37. I love the Wedding dress and the Simplicity dress came in a close second. I have no idea in what kind of fabric I would make them up and I don't really want to think about it yet. Otherwise I'm going to set my mind on it and have to find them online to buy them. I'm weird that way. :)

  40. howdy,
In love with the Weigels 2702 pattern, a dress with buttons? I'm sold. I would probably make it in a nice polka dot pattern and add pockets, because I can't do without those.
and now that I see that pattern with a detachable collar, I may have to make a few up!
    thanks so much
